  • Redmi Note 7 Pro vs Redmi Note 6 Pro: price in India, specifications
  • “The Redmi Note 7 Pro brings several upgrades over the Redmi Note 6 Pro that was launched late last year”

Xiaomi has announced the latest Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Redmi Note 7 budget mid-range smartphones in India. These are the latest in the Note series from Xiaomi’s Redmi brand and will surely set the mid-range segment on fire. The Redmi Note 7 Pro price in India is extremely competitive, so we can expect long waits to buy the handset once the flash sales begin on March 13th. In this comparison, we are going to look at how the new Redmi Note 7 Pro has improved over its predecessor, the Redmi Note 6 Pro (review). Let’s get started!

Redmi Note 7 Pro vs Redmi Note 6 Pro price in India

The Redmi Note 7 Pro price in India is similar to that of its predecessor. The base variant (4GB+64GB) starts at Rs 13,999, which is Rs 2,000 more than the base version of the Redmi Note 6 Pro. However, you are getting a better processor, new design and a much more powerful camera with the new phone.

If you want more RAM and storage (6GB+128GB), then the Redmi Note 7 Pro will cost you Rs 16,999. The new handset is available in Neptune Blue, Space Black and Nebula Red hues. The 6GB RAM variant of the Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with 64GB ROM and is priced at Rs 13,999. This phone comes in Black, Blue, Red, and Rose Gold colour options. It should be noted that these prices have been discounted by Rs 2,000 in the past few weeks.

Now, let us talk about the hardware aspects of the Redmi Note siblings. The new Redmi Note 7 Pro has a glass body design with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on both sides. Compared to this, the Note 6 Pro has a metal unibody design. Of course, metal is stronger than glass, but the latest Xiaomi smartphone does look better. Xiaomi has included a 6.3-inch FHD+ display with a tiny waterdrop notch on the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The display is similar to the one on the Redmi Note 6 Pro, which is 6.26-inches in size, but has a bigger notch. The smaller Dot Notch on the new model provides a more immersive experience when gaming or watching videos.

In terms of performance, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is definitely going to be better. It is powered by the Snapdragon 675 chipset, whereas its predecessor uses a Snapdragon 636 processor. Both phones get a maximum of 6GB RAM, but the newer handset gets 128GB of storage compared to the maximum of 64GB on the older device. You do get a microSD card slot though, so adding extra storage shouldn’t be a problem.

One of the biggest advancements in the new Redmi Note 7 Pro, when compared to last year’s model, is the camera. The new phone comes with a flagship-grade 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor on the back. It can record 4K 30fps videos, shoot high-resolution photos with plenty of detail, and also gets a night mode. There’s also a 5-megapixel depth sensor for portrait mode. The Redmi Note 6 Pro, on the other hand, gets a 12-megapixel primary and 5-megapixel depth sensor at the back.

For selfies, the Redmi Note 6 Pro gets a dual-camera setup with a 20-megapixel main sensor and another 2-megapixel sensor for portrait mode. With the Redmi Note 7 Pro, you get a single 13-megapixel selfie camera. Both phones carry the same 4,000mAh battery, but the Redmi Note 7 Pro gets a USB Type-C port with Quick Charge 4+ support. You also get the latest Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10 OS on the Note 7 Pro. Both phones feature a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5-mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi.

Based on the comparison, the new Redmi Note 7 Pro is definitely a better buy. For just Rs 2,000 more than the Redmi Note 6 Pro, you get a faster processor, 48-megapixel camera, fast charging and newer design. Of course, the older model is still a good buy if you prefer metal build over glass and if you don’t really care about the camera improvements, but for that, you also have the Redmi Note 7 to look at.
