“One of these phones has a clamshell design and the other is has an outward folding display”
After years of speculation, foldable phones have finally become a reality. Two of the earliest products in this nascent space are the Huawei Mate X (in pictures) and Samsung’s Galaxy Fold. In fact, the latter is already set to be on sale starting April 26th. However, as per a report from Bloomberg, Samsung is already working on two more foldable phones with completely different designs.
Citing unnamed sources, the publication suggests that one of those foldable smartphones has a clamshell form factor akin to what Motorola is rumoured to be working on currently with the Razr. This particular model is being tested right now and comes with an additional screen outside and a long vertical display on the inside. However, the external display might be removed, depending upon the feedback received from Galaxy Fold users. The model is slated for release later this year or early in 2020. As for the second model, it’s somewhat similar to the Mate X and has an outward folding panel along with a thinner chassis owing to the fact that there’s just one display. Bloomberg has also mentioned that the sources indicate that Samsung might also incorporate an in-display fingerprint reader on these future foldable.
For now, the South Korean giant is mulling on plans to compensate for the creases that develop on the Galaxy Fold after around 10,000 folds. The company could even offer free screen replacements to buyers as one options, said the source. The crease in the bendable part of the phone is one of the main concerns for many as this is the first wave of foldable phones. The crease on the Galaxy Fold develops on the protective film covering the touch sensor. Samsung is expecting to produce at least a million Galaxy Fold devices this year. The leading phonemaker has poured a lot of money on the concept and has been improving it for the last eight years.from 91mobiles.com http://bit.ly/2Hi0v5M
