“Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 chip is said to bring gaming, photography, and AI improvements”
Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 730 and Snapdragon 730G chipsets a couple of weeks ago. These 8nm based SoC’s are said to offer advancements in gaming, photography, and artificial intelligence (AI). Now Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain has tweeted that the company would launch a new smartphone with the latest Snapdragon 7xx SoC in India soon. Unfortunately, nothing else is revealed about the handset yet.

Any guesses? 😎 pic.twitter.com/TnrnTOr4PI
Since the exact name and specifications of the phone aren’t clear at the moment, it’s possible that Xiaomi might be talking about the Redmi phone with a pop-up selfie camera that surfaced on the internet recently. This new mysterious smartphone is reported to come with the Snapdragon 730 SoC and a 4,000mAh battery. It’s also speculated to rock a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 48MP primary sensor, a secondary 8MP depth unit and a 13MP wide-angle lens. It is possible that this might be the handset that was recently spotted on the company’s co-founder and President Lin Bin’s table since both phones rock a pop-up selfie snapper. Since there’s no mention of an official launch date just yet, we will have wait for Xiaomi’s announcements.
To recall, the Snapdragon 730 SoC packs Kryo 470 cores coupled with Adreno 618 GPU. It also supports the ability to shoot 4K HDR videos in portrait mode and can automatically convert the files to HEIF format that takes half the size compared to previous formats. The silicon also supports triple rear cameras. Thanks to the built-in Snapdragon X15 LTE modem, the chipset is WiFi 6-ready and offers cellular download speeds of up to 800Mbps.
