“The Black Shark 2 will take on the likes of other gaming phones from ASUS, nubia, and Razer”
Gaming smartphone sub-brand Black Shark has already rolled out its second generation phone, the Black Shark 2 in China. But the Xiaomi-backed phone maker has yet to enter the Indian market, where its parent company is a well-known entity. But it seems we might not have to wait a lot because the Black Shark 2 has received the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification. This is a clear hint that the handset will soon launch in India. This comes a couple of months after Black Shark confirmed it is in the process of setting up shop in the Indian market.
As for the BIS listing spotted by MySmartPrice, there’s little to see except the SKW-HO model number. While there’s no official indication, the report expects the Black Shark 3 to launch in India by the end of the second quarter.
The Black Shark 2 launched in March and has some strong selling points, including the Snapdragon Elite Gaming graphics technology, Liquid Cool 3.0, 240Hz touch response rate, and a touch response time of 43.5 milliseconds. There’s also a pressure-sensing technology similar to Apple’s 3D Touch called Magic Press. These features are only the icing on the cake. The handset has flagship-grade specifications as well such as a Snapdragon 855 SoC, a 6.39-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with 403ppi of pixel density. In the camera department, the Black Shark 2 boasts a 48-megapixel primary sensor that comes with an f/1.75 lens accompanied by a 12MP secondary lens. For selfies, the phone has a 20-megapixel sensor at the front along with an f/2.0 lens. There’s a 4,000mAh battery onboard the gaming phone which has 12GB of RAM on the top-end variant.
In China, the Black Shark 2 starts at CNY 3,199 (roughly Rs. 32,700) for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage model.
