Vodafone recently announced their 5G go-live date of July 3rd, but today, in a briefing to press, EE gave announced their intention to switch everything on next Thursday.
It means that EE will provide the UK's first full 5G service, even if there's really nobody using it just yet
Six cities will be getting 5G coverage initially. They're London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester. The network is then committed to rolling out more than 100 new 5G sites per month.
The network also told us about new "5G Smart SIM only and handset plans", and you can now purchase 5G phones from both Samsung and OnePlus today. The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, however, is the confirmed to be the UK's first commercially available 5G smartphone.
