“The Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite are expected to be the upcoming stock-Android smartphones from Xiaomi”
Xiaomi is rumoured to be working on the next-gen Android One smartphones that’ll succeed last year’s Mi A2 (review) smartphone. The handsets are likely to be dubbed as Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite, and as per XDA Developers, will be codenamed as “bamboo_sprout” and “cosmos_sprout” respectively. The third handset codenamed as “pyxis” is believed to be the successor of Mi 6X smartphone that’ll run MIUI skin and be exclusive to China. XDA’s Mishaal Rahman has now tipped that all the upcoming smartphones from Xiaomi have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 700 series chipset ticking at its core.

All 3 should be SDM7XX series. Which one (710/712) I can’t say for sure yet.
Though Rahman isn’t sure which chipset it’s going to be, he hints that it could be Snapdragon 710 or Snapdragon 712 SoC. Meanwhile, previous leaks have confirmed that the Mi A3 series could be driven by the latest 700 series chipset dubbed as Snapdragon 730, while the Lite model with Snapdragon 600 series chipset. We’d advise you to take the news with a pinch of salt, until further confirmation.
In related news, the Mi A3 is expected to come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The handset along with the Mi A3 Lite could sport a 32-megapixel shooter on the front for selfies and video calling. Both the phones are likely to come with dual camera setup (sensors unknown) at the back panel and would run Android 9 Pie out of the box to take care of the software side of things. On the other hand, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain has said that a new phone with Snapdragon 7XX series processor is on the way, so the rumours about Mi A3 coming with Snapdragon 7XX SoC could be true. That’s all we know so far about the handsets!
Xiaomi is yet to reveal when it’s planning to launch the Mi A3 series or its Chinese version that may be dubbed as Mi 7X smartphone.
