  • Samsung Galaxy Fold reportedly won’t arrive in July
  • “A Samsung executive confirmed nothing has progressed since the April delay”

Foldable phones aren’t easy to deal with, and Samsung seems to have certainly learned that the hard way. For the unaware, the South Korean giant recalled its first commercial foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold over design flaws, back in April. Earlier rumours suggested the company improved the handset’s design with non-removable protector and reduced gap and is also toying with the idea of launching the handset sometime in July. Now, on the contrary, Korea Herald reports that a Samsung official speaking to Korean media denied the Galaxy Fold July launch and stated that “nothing has progressed since the April delay.”

Furthermore, the executive said, “If we are running such a media event this month, we should be doing something by now.” Recently, Samsung mentioned that the announcements regarding the Galaxy Fold’s launch would be made in the “coming weeks.” However, no specific timeline is mentioned. This either means that Samsung hasn’t finalised the launch date or is still in the fixing stage. Either way, we should know more details in the coming few weeks.

Separately, after Samsung, Huawei also delayed the launch of the Mate X, which was due for a release this month. The company’s spokesperson confirmed the Mate X will be launching in September as it still needs time to conduct further tests to ensure it is durable and doesn’t run into any issues post the release. Huawei is also said to be doing additional testing with the telecom operators around the globe and making sure apps work flawlessly when the handset is fully folded.
