Apart from the Redmi Note series, the Redmi A series phones from Xiaomi enjoys a lot of popularity in India. The company recently revealed that it sold over 23.6 million handsets in the Redmi A series in the country till April 2019. Now today, the Chinese tech giant has launched its latest offering in the range called the Redmi 7A in India. The phone was originally unveiled a few weeks ago in the brand’s home market of China. It is an entry-level offering with a splash-proof design, an 18:9 display, Android Pie-based MIUI 10, and a beefy battery. Notably, the Redmi 7A is the first A series smartphone with an octa-core processor.
Redmi 7A price in India
The Redmi 7A’s base variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage has been priced at Rs 5,999. The 2GB + 32GB model o the other hand, will set you back by Rs 6,199. The company is offering a discount of Rs 200 on the device who buy it in July. The handset comes in Matte Black, Matte Blue, and Matte Gold colour variants.
The phone will be available in the country starting July 11th on Flipkart, Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and will be available to buy at other retailers later. Surprisingly, the 7A is being offered with two year’s of warranty instead of the usual one year with other phones.
Redmi 7A specifications
As for the Redmi 7A features, the handset comes with a polycarbonate body. While it doesn’t feature a fingerprint sensor, it has face unlock functionality. The smartphone boots MIUI 10 out of the box, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. The handset gets a compact 5.45-inch display bearing a resolution of 1,440 x 720 pixels with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Powering the device is an octa-core 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor, aided by an Adreno 505 GPU. The device ships with 2GB RAM, while storage is pegged at 16GB or 32GB.
Notably, in India, the handset has been launched with a 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor. The company will also be releasing the AI scene detection feature for the device via a software update in the near future. For selfies, there’s a 5-megapixel snapper with AI portrait and AI smart beauty modes. The connectivity options include wireless FM Radio, 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and A-GPS. A strong 4,000mAh battery completes the list of the specifications.
