  • Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL to reportedly feature ‘Smooth Display’ with 90Hz refresh rate
  • “Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL expected to feature 90Hz display, a feature that Google is reportedly planning to term Smooth Display”

Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL launch is expected sometime in the next couple of months. Google itself confirmed the physical design of the flagship, but there’s still a lot more to learn about the flagships. The Mountain View giant also revealed the handsets would come with Soli radar chip on the front top bezel alongside the speaker, single front camera and other sensors, including face unlock. Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones are said to have 5.7-inch full-HD+ and 6.3-inch QHD+ OLED display, respectively. According to 9to5Google, both the smartphones will have 90Hz display, a feature that Google is reportedly planning to call ‘Smooth Display’. This means the upcoming Pixel 4 series will join OnePlus 7 Pro and Razer Phone 2 in the rare breed of phones that feature higher refresh rates than the standard 60Hz.

Furthermore, Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL is expected to come with dual rear cameras, consisting of a 12MP primary sensor with phase-detection autofocus and a 16MP telephoto lens, information revealed courtesy of Google Camera app. It’s also reported that Google is developing a DSLR-like attachment for the Pixel that may launch as an accessory. The smaller Pixel 4 has been tipped to have a 2,800mAh battery, while the larger model is said to pack a 3,700mAh unit. This means the standard Pixel 4 will have a smaller battery capacity compared to last year’s model. Both the devices could ship with Snapdragon 855, 6GB RAM and will be available in both 64GB and 128GB storage options.

Both the Pixel 4 models could have stereo speakers, the Titan M security module, and run Android Q with promised three years of software support. Sources also suggest that Google will be introducing new Assistant features that will be exclusive to Pixel 4 series. Google would be introducing the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL in October at the Made by Google event alongside other hardware products. So we should know more details soon.
