The OnePlus 7 may not carry the same flamboyant design as the Pro in the series but it comes with primarily the same hardware – except for the absence of the third rear camera and the pop-up selfie shooter – and similar software experience with OxygenOS. The OnePlus 7 came across as the more practical choice in our review than the Pro, especially if you want a flagship performance without breaking the bank. The OnePlus 7 Pro (our review) may be getting slightly more attention via more frequent software updates but the regular OnePlus 7 is being kept up to date as well.
With the latest update to OxygenOS 9.5.8, the OnePlus 7 gets Google's security patches from August 2019, improved touch response along with other performance improvements. This comes nearly two months after the 9.5.7 update, which brought several improvements to the system and the camera.
The changelog for the OxygenOS 9.5.8 update for OnePlus 7 is essentially the same as the OnePlus 7 Pro's OxygenOS 9.5.11 build. Here are the changes that it brings:
The issue which led to accidental touches on the notification bar amid calls should be rectified with this update. Meanwhile, Google Mobile Services including Google apps like Chrome, Search, Maps, Google Play Services, YouTube, etc. are now automatically updated to the respective versions from June 2019.
Like previous updates, we expect OnePlus to push the updates to a smaller group of users followed by a wider roll-out. The eventual availability of updates on your device can take a few weeks but if you want to speed up the process, you can grab the updated firmware using the links below:
Incremental update from OxygenOS 9.5.7 to 9.5.8 EU build (GM57BA)
Incremental update from OxygenOS 9.5.7 to 9.5.8 for internal models (GM57AA)
