  • Best 64MP camera phones: Realme XT, Redmi Note 8 Pro, and more
  • “Realme XT, Realme XT 730G, and Redmi Note 8 Pro have already been confirmed as the best 64MP phones, while rumoured models include Vivo NEX 3, Samsung Galaxy A70S and A81”

Samsung widened the horizon of smartphone photography with the launch of its 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor. Life-like clarity and details are no longer a wild chase but a reality. And everyone from Realme and Xiaomi wants a share of this. The successor to 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor uses the same Tetracell technology – binning four 16MP pixels into one, but offers 34 percent more optical information and better results in the low light environment. The 64MP sensor has a large f/1.7 aperture lens and uses remosaic algorithm to further enhance the results. The other features of the 64MP sensor include real-time HDR of up to 100-decibels for noise reduction as well as colour accuracy, high-performance phase detection auto-focus technology, and full-HD recording at 480 frames-per-second (FPS) for smooth cinematic slow-motion videos.

Here are the phones with 64MP camera

The primary camera of the Realme XT sports Samsung’s 64MP GW1 sensor paired with 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro sensor. The phone features a 6.4-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display that bears in-display fingerprint scanner and a waterdrop notch as well.

The Realme XT is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 712 SoC, aided by up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. A 4,000mAh battery with 30W VOOC fast charging tech fuels the handset, while Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS takes care of software side of things. The Realme XT prices in India are Rs 15,999, Rs 16,999, and Rs 18,999 for the 4GB + 64GB, 6GB + 64GB, and 8GB + 128GB variants, respectively.

    Redmi Note 8 Pro

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is another smartphone that rocks 64MP shooter. Like its arch-rival Realme XT, the Redmi Note 8 Pro also features a quad-rear camera setup with 8MP secondary and a couple of 2MP sensors for close shots and depth-effect. The front camera of the phone gets a 20MP shooter atop the 6.53-inch LCD screen for selfies and video calling.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro has MediaTek’s gaming-focused Helio G90T chipset ticking at its core. The phone comes in as many as three RAM and storage configurations: 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 128GB. Software-wise, it comes running MIUI 10 with Android 9 Pie out of the box.

    Samsung Galaxy A70s

The Galaxy A70s is India’s second and Samsung’s first smartphone with the 64-megapixel camera. The handset has the in-house ISOCELL Bright GW1 64MP primary sensor paired with a 5-megapixel depth sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens at the triple camera sensors at the back. The handset will most likely be an upper mid-range offering and feature as many as four cameras at the back. Other than the Samsung GW1 sensor, the setup may include a 16MP wide-angle lens, 12MP telephoto lens with 2x or 5x optical zoom, and ToF or Time-of-Flight sensor. There are no other details available as of now.

    Realme XT 730G

The Realme XT 730G has been confirmed to be in the works, featuring similar features as the XT but with the more powerful Snapdragon 730G processor. The handset is also tipped to feature 64MP quad-camera setup, a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with an optical fingerprint scanner, 4,000mAh battery, and Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6 out of the box. The only notable difference is going to be chipset and selfie camera. The Realme XT Pro will reportedly sport a much better 32MP selfie snapper and Snapdragon 730G SoC instead of the 16MP sensor and Snapdragon 712 mobile platform.
