The XDA-Developers Portal team is always on the look-out for unique voices and talents. We have a diverse group of writers from different parts of the world with many different interests and specialties. Once again, we are looking to expand our team with a new Full-time News Writer for the Portal team (based in New Delhi, India) and a new Full-Time Content Curator (based anywhere within India) for a side project. Since our needs are narrower this time than the previous opening, we are strictly restricting ourselves to individuals who fit within the geographical requirements mentioned above. We also presume that you have consistent access to a personal computer on which you can work.
Check out the job descriptions below and follow the instructions to apply if you qualify.
XDA-Developers Portal Full-Time News Writer
We are looking for a new full-time News Writer who can cover short-form content relevant to our Indian audience. This is a paid position. The exact payment details are negotiable.
Your responsibilities include:
- Being consistently available from 9:00AM to 6:00PM IST, Monday through Friday*. Articles can be scheduled ahead of time, so you do not necessarily need to be available at every minute. There might be spillover responsibilities for the weekend, depending on high-priority launch events and the accompanying information flow, though these would be the exception rather than the norm.
- Publishing anywhere between 4-6 news articles per day, ranging between 300-800 words each depending on complexity and content. Your articles must be free of any errors in grammar or spelling. We prefer quality over quantity, though, so on slower days, we'll make exceptions for the article quota rather than publish low-quality fluff content.
- Though you will receive help from the Editorial staff in selecting which news to cover, we expect you to make up for any gaps in coverage by independently researching and writing news topics that were not selected by the Editorial staff.
- Representing XDA-Developers at pre-briefings and launch events.
Please note that there are limited opportunities for long-form content in this role. We are primarily looking for a dedicated news writer focusing on short-format content who can shoulder content responsibilities from our other full-time writers and editors. We have been witnessing a substantial increase in short-format information flow, which distracts us from dedicating ourselves towards more time-intensive endeavors like APK teardowns, dedicated full reviews, gaming reviews, and forum content discovery revolving around custom development efforts. This position is not intended to change the working of XDA-Developers, but merely aid us in becoming better at what we are known for — original content.
*Except on nationally-recognized holidays or other occasions approved by us. We are flexible, but please inform us ahead of time if you plan to be unavailable so we can accommodate for the gap in coverage.
XDA-Developers Full-Time Content Curator
This is a new role that is being created for a side project that we at XDA-Developers are currently working on. We cannot disclose all the details of this role at this stage, but we shall be discussing finer details with candidates at the interview stage. Responsibilities in this role will be similar to the news writer position above, but this role will see further limitations with public-facing content. Think of it as a more "behind-the-scenes" content discovery role, which will also involve writing short-form content on a regular basis.
Application
Applying for both these positions will be done through a common Google Form, which can be accessed through the link below:
XDA has seen consistent growth throughout 2018 thanks to the combined efforts of our Editorial, News Writing, XDA TV, and Contributor staff. As a new addition to the team, you'll help us keep the XDA Portal fresh with new content!
