“The 120Hz display on OnePlus 8 Pro will deliver lesser motion blur and a more fluid viewing experience”
It seems phones with 90Hz displays are already becoming passé. OnePlus 8 Pro has been tipped to sport a 120Hz display, which will be a pretty big upgrade considering the brand brought 90Hz displays to the mainstream just this year. This will put OnePlus 8 Pro in a small list of phones with 120Hz displays, which presently includes the likes of ASUS ROG Phone 2, and a couple of Sharp models. However, we can expect the list to grow significantly in the future as popular brands such as Apple, Xiaomi, and Samsung also reportedly launching phones with 120Hz displays in 2020.

OnePlus 8 Pro design was recently leaked in exclusive renders by 91mobiles, showing the handset will be the brand’s first with a quad camera setup on the back. The handset will sport a 6.65-inch display, only a little bigger than the 6.55-inch screen of the regular OnePlus 8. Both the smartphones will feature a punch-hole display to house the selfie camera. Key specifications expected for the two handsets are Snapdragon 865 SoC, wireless charging support, 5G option, up to 12GB RAM, and Android 10.

At the OnePlus 7T launch, OnePlus had confirmed that all future smartphones by the company will feature a 90Hz screen. So while the OnePlus 8 Pro has been tipped to have the 120Hz display, the regular OnePlus 8 will probably still have the 90Hz panel. The Pro will, as mentioned earlier, will compete against the Samsung Galaxy S11, iPhone 12 Pro, and an upcoming Xiaomi flagship, which are all rumoured to have 120Hz screens. The OnePlus 8 series launch reportedly will be scheduled for Q2 2020, so there are still several months before we find out that this rumour is true.
