  • GeekWire | GeekWire Calendar Picks: The beginning of the universe, autonomous cars, and AI at work
  • — It's one of the great questions of humanity that will likely never be answered: how did the universe begin? While most scientists have settled on the Big Bang theory, there's little else we know about what happened after. That's the topic of a new book by Dan Hooper, At the Edge of Time. Hooper will be giving a presentation featuring content from his book, such as how astrophysicists are using the Large Hadron Collider to recreate the Big Bang and the following events. Hooper's talk takes place at The Forum at Town Hall on Nov. 8.

    — Interest in autonomous vehicles has skyrocketed over the past few years. Companies in the industry have landed large investments and valuations. But the tech used in autonomous vehicles has uses that don't involve streets and wheels. TiE Seattle and Smart Mobility are hosting a panel featuring experts in the field to discuss where the tech is headed and how it can be used in a variety of ways. Autonomous Vehicles and the Future of Mobility takes place at the SURF Incubator on Nov. 7.
