  • Samsung Galaxy S11 may feature a new Bright Night Sensor for night photography
  • “Samsung has applied for a new trademark called ‘Bright Night Sensor’, which is believed to further improve low-light photography”

It has already been reported many times before that the upcoming Galaxy S11 series will feature a new 108MP sensor and new camera features like Space Zoom. What we hear now based on a new trademark filed by Samsung in EUIPO is that the flagship’s camera will include a new “Bright Night Sensor” which will likely enhance low-light photography. According to the listing, the sensor is a photosensitive element for products such as mobile phones and tablets. To recall, Samsung has used the “Bright Night” terms for the Galaxy S10 already, but that relied on software to enhance night photography. The new trademarked Bright Night sensor, however, refers to a hardware photosensitive element, which is said to combine software and hardware features to improve night scene performance.

The Galaxy S11 will reportedly pack quad rear cameras.

Samsung will most likely make use of the Bright Night Sensor in its Galaxy S11 series, which is expected to launch in February, ahead of MWC 2020. The lineup will reportedly have three models: S11e, S11, and S11 Plus, with at least one if not all equipped with 108-megapixel primary sensor.

    Samsung Galaxy S11 specifications

Samsung Galaxy S11 specifications tipped so far include a Snapdragon 865 SoC for some markets and Exynos 9830 aka Exynos 990 SoC for other markets including India. The flagship S11e may ship with a 6.3-inch/6.4-inch screen while the S11 and S11 Plus could sport a 6.7-inch and 6.9-inch punch-hole displays respectively. The Galaxy S11 phones are also expected to come with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and an advanced ultra-sonic fingerprint scanner. All three models are also rumoured to come with 5G connectivity and 25W fast charging support. They are also expected to ship with Android 10-based One UI 2.0.

The Galaxy S11 and S11 Plus will pack a penta-rear camera setup based on exclusive renders shared by 91mobiles previously, while the Galaxy S11e may settle for triple cameras at the back. The Galaxy S11 series could see the light of day February 18th ahead of MWC 2020, which is slated to begin from February 24th in Barcelona, Spain.
