  • Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro global launch date is March 27th, may launch in India soon after
  • “The Mi 10 series was expected to globally launch in February at MWC 2020, but the company had to delay the launch event due to the coronavirus outbreak”

After cancelling the planned launch of the Mi 10 series at MWC 2020 last month, Xiaomi has now confirmed the global launch of the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro via an online event, scheduled to take place on March 27th. The launch of the flagship series will be live-streamed starting 6:30PM IST. Based on recent reports, the Mi 10 series will launch in India as well, presumably following its global launch. Last week, 91mobiles exclusively reported on the Mi 10 India’s RAM, storage and colour options.

The Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro have already launched in China with the first batch of pre-orders already being sold out in minutes. According to reports, the Mi 10 sold roughly 50,000 units during pre-order, while the Mi 10 Pro saw about 40,000 units being pre-booked. Both the smartphones feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, and hence offer 5G connectivity as well. They also feature the same, curved edge, 6.67-inch AMOLED display with full HD+ resolution, HDR10+ playback support, 90Hz display refresh rate and 180Hz touch response. Both the devices also feature 8GB and 12GB RAM variants.

In terms of storage, while the Mi 10 offers up to 256GB storage, the Mi 10 Pro comes with up to 512GB storage. The biggest difference lies in the rear camera – the Mi 10 features a 108-megapixel primary camera, coupled with 13-megapixel ultra-wide, 2-megapixel macro and 2-megapixel depth cameras. The Mi 10 Pro, meanwhile, is more impressive – it features a 108-megapixel primary camera alongside 8-megapixel telephoto with 10x hybrid zoom, a 12-megapixel telephoto and portrait unit with 2x optical zoom, and a 20-megapixel ultra-wide unit.

Both the phones also feature 20-megapixel selfie camera with a punch-hole to the left, and battery tech includes 30W fast wireless charging charging and 5W reverse wireless charging. However, the Mi 10 features a 4,780mAh battery with 30W fast charging, while the Mi 10 Pro features a 4,500mAh battery with 50W fast charging.

Given the scope that the two devices have on offer, it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi markets its upcoming flagship smartphones. Both the Mi 10 devices feature Wi-Fi 6 compatibility and even 8K video support at 30fps. The Mi 10 Pro, on top of all this, also offers fast frame rate full HD video shooting at 120fps, 240fps and 960fps settings.
