  • Vivo S6 5G to feature Exynos 980 5G processor, Geekbench listing confirms
  • “The Vivo S6 5G is so far expected to launch on March 31st, and feature a quad rear camera and a 4,390mAh battery.”

Vivo is slated to launch its next 5G smartphone, which in the rumour mill has been dubbed as Vivo S6 5G. Now, a Geekbench entry for the smartphone has been spotted, affirming that the device will be powered by a Samsung-built Exynos 980 5G SoC. So far, the chipset that the device would run on was not determined. Now, the revelation suggests the sub-flagship grade Exynos 5G SoC will be powering the phone, along with 8GB of RAM onboard.

The Vivo S6 5G smartphone is likely to be a mid-premium range smartphone, and previous listings of the phone, including on TENAA, have suggested that it would also come with a 6GB RAM variant as well. According to the reports, the storage choices will also vary between 128GB and 256GB, which means that we may see the Vivo S6 5G to be configured in 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants. Other features of the device include a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with full HD+ screen resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio.

The display is also said to feature a waterdrop notch to house a 32-megapixel front camera. With the waterdrop notch typically being a design choice in mid-range phones, we expect the Vivo S6 5G to be a mid-range device, aimed at making 5G devices more affordable. However, there have been alternate reports stating that it may come with dual punch hole front camera, which in turn would place the device in a premium segment. To the rear, the phone is expected to feature a quad camera setup, featuring a 48-megapixel primary unit, an 8-megapixel secondary, and two 2-megapixel sensors, most likely for macro and depth sensing.

The entire setup is powered by a 4,390mAh battery aided by fast charging. Being a premium-end device, the Vivo S6 5G is almost certain to feature an under-display fingerprint sensor and a USB-C port. With almost all features out in the open, it will be interesting to see how the device is priced. With the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, if Vivo had any launches planned for international markets, those are almost certain to be delayed.
