  • Android Authority | Thought 108MP was too much? Galaxy S30 Ultra leak suggests 150MP
  • Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra camera modile profile times square

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra brought a 108MP main camera with fancy nona-binning technology, but we've heard for a while now that Samsung is working on higher resolution cameras.

Now, a leaker on a Korean-language forum (h/t: Twitter user Sleepy Kuma) says the Samsung Galaxy S30 Ultra or S21 Ultra will indeed offer a megapixel bump over the S20 Ultra.

According to the tipster, the phone will sport a 150MP main camera, 64MP telephoto shooter, 16MP ultra-wide camera, 12MP macro sensor, and a VGA-quality 3D ToF camera. It's believed that OIS is available on the main and telephoto cameras at the very least, but it seems like we could also see OIS on either the selfie camera or the ultra-wide shooter.

The 150MP main camera is certainly an interesting development if true, theoretically delivering 16MP pixel-binned shots with nona-binning. But hopefully Samsung is able to steer clear of S20 Ultra-style focus issues on the S30 Ultra if this is the case.

A 12MP macro camera would also be a change from Samsung, as the Galaxy S20 series lacks a dedicated macro shooter. It would also be a step up from other macro cameras, currently topping out at 5MP.

The tipster previously reported that Samsung and Google were working together on a chipset, before it was subsequently reported via US outlet Axios. So the source of the leaks isn't a completely unknown quantity. Nevertheless, we'd recommend you treat the news with caution for now.
