Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Plus is in the news once again after a report earlier this month tipped the phone would launch with Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC. Now, the same tipster, Digital Chat Station, has tipped that the phone launch with a 48MP primary camera instead of a 108MP sensor as seen on the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. While this is a substantial downgrade in terms of pixels, Xiaomi may have software optimisations in place to offer a flagship-level performance. In any case, it’s a strange omission for the high-end model in the series.
Earlier rumours suggested the Mi 10 Pro Plus will have a 6.67-inch waterfall display with 2,340 x 1,080 pixels resolution and high 120Hz refresh rate. Speculations are rife that it may debut in the first week of August, although Xiaomi has not started teasing the launch of a new flagship. To recall, Xiaomi introduced the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro flagships back in March this year with 90Hz displays. Unfortunately, that’s all we know about the Mi 10 Pro Plus at the moment.
To recall, the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro flaunt a 6.67-inch full HD+ curved AMOLED display with a single punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera, 1,080 × 2,340 pixels resolution, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and 90Hz refresh rate. They are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC coupled with Adreno 650 GPU, up to 12GB of RAM, and 512GB storage. The phones runs Android 10 OS with MIUI 11 custom skin on top. While the standard Mi 10 houses a 4,780mAh battery with 30W wired fast charging support, the Mi 10 Pro has a relatively smaller 4,500mAh battery with a faster 50W fast charging.
In terms of optics, the standard Mi 10 has a quad-rear camera consisting of a 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX primary sensor, dual 2MP sensors, a 13MP wide-angle lens, and an LED flash. While the Mi 10 Pro has the same 108MP main camera, a 12MP short telephoto lens, an 8MP long telephoto lens and a 20MP ultra-wide-angle lens. There is a 20MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/ Galileo, and USB Type-C port.
