
MIUI 12 is Xiaomi’s latest software version and is slowly yet gradually rolling out. Now, according to the Indonesian MIUI 12 website, the update will be rolled to a total of 23 smartphones in August. These phones include Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Mi 10, Mi Note 10, Mi Note 10 Pro, Mi 8 Lite, Redmi Note 8, POCO F2 Pro, POCO F1, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi Note 5, Redmi 9, Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, Redmi 8A Pro, Redmi 7, Redmi 7A, Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 5, and Redmi S2. However, the exact rollout timelines for each model isn’t detailed and the “release plan may change at any time.”

Mi 9, Redmi K20 Pro/Mi 9T Pro and Redmi K20/Mi 9T were among the first to receive the MIUI 12 update globally. Xiaomi had kicked off the MIUI 12 pilot program for Redmi Note 7S, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 8 Pro in India but is yet to reveal the update roadmap for its phones in the country.

MIUI 12 brings a new visual design with a graphical design that surfaces important data such as storage, battery capacity, and other stats in new graphs and visual diagrams form. There is a new Dark Mode 2.0 that dims the wallpaper and adjusts the brightness of font and an improved Ultra battery saver mode. There are new Super Wallpapers, which are high-resolution 3D landscapes of Earth and Mars. Xiaomi says the launching/closing, switching between apps, and Recents menu animations are now more life-like. The physics engine renders these animations with 3D trajectories utilising G2 curvature. There’s also a new Control centre that has quick setting shortcuts in the grid.
