It should be worth noting this is a memorable event as the new Redmi 9 is yet to launch in major markets including India though scheduled for August 4.

However, as usual we expect a pretty compact and mid-range device from the budget phone king.

Here are a few spoilers which we ultimately expect from the Xiaomi Redmi 9 launch tomorrow.

    Redmi 9 Specifications (Expected)

Whilst the Redmi 9 was unveiled in China, it is being speculated in Nigeria that it will launch with the same set of specifications.

    Redmi 9 FHD+ display

The Redmi 9 is expected to sport a 6.53-inch FHD+ screen with a resolution of 1,080×2,340 pixels. A waterdrop-notch style display and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for protection looks a certainty too.

Redmi 9 is powered by MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor and paired with up to 4GB of RAM. It is speculated that the device will be available in two different variants including the 4GB and 6GB. Although the 6GB variant wasn’t officially announced, a new leak has confirmed the existence of a 6GB variant, which will most probably launch in Nigeria. Currently, it has the 4GB RAM with 64 GB of storage which is expandable using a microSD card.

The Redmi 9 houses a 5,020mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. For connectivity, the Redmi 9 has Bluetooth v5, Wi-Fi Direct, FM Radio, NFC, GPS, AGPS, 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, and 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11.

There is also the basic support for Face Lock and a fingerprint sensor mounted on the rear of the device.

    Redmi 9 Quad camera

In terms of camera, the Redmi 9 features a quad-camera setup on the rear which consists of a 13-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 5-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera for better selfies.

Redmi 9 Price and Availability in Nigeria

If anything is to go by with smartphone OEMs these days, it’s their ability to balance out specs for every budget user out there.

Redmi 9 launch and specifications in Nigeria

This means if the Redmi 9 will expectedly launch with same specs as its Chinese variant, we expect same pricing too though you never know

The Redmi 9 was launched in China for CNY 799 (roughly $115) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB variant whereas the 4GB+128GB variant was priced at CNY 999 ($143) and the 6GB+128GB variant was launched for CNY 1199 ($172).

The smartphone will launch in three color options including Carbon black, Mordecin, Neon Blue, and Lotus Root Powder. It will be available for order from major e-commerce platforms and outlets all over the nation including Pointek, Jumia, Raya, SLOT, etc.
