“The Galaxy Fold comes packed with some of the most cutting-edge tech Samsung has put in its phones.”
Even before the Galaxy Fold went official, it was clear that the foldable would be a super premium product meant only for the elite few. This was even highlighted by the fact that even press members were not allowed to touch the unit at the Galaxy Unpacked event when the phone went official. Now, it seems, many people still won’t be able to touch it or play with it at retail stores. At MWC, Kate Beaumont, director of product, services, and commercial strategy at Samsung UK confirmed that the Galaxy Fold with its luxury $1,980 (~Rs 1,41,045) price tag will be available in very limited quantities. The Galaxy Fold will be available to buy in April.
As quoted by The Verge, the Samsung official said that not all retail stores will have a demo unit of Samsung’s foldable phone. Moreover, there will be intensive aftercare involved to make sure buyers of the product are treated as royalty. Also, there will be another press event that will be held before the launch on April 26th where a closer look will be allowed on the 7.3-inch folding device. Samsung isn’t detailing its exact retail plans just yet but we’ll probably see the Galaxy Fold only at the biggest Samsung stores.
The official also commented on the design of the Galaxy Fold saying that an inwards bending screen is the best way to protect the new panel. It also takes more research and time as compared to the outward folding devices, said Beaumont. Samsung’s only competitor right now seems to be the Huawei Mate X that stole the limelight at MWC 2019 with its thin bezels and light-weight design. The 5G foldable from the Chinese manufacturer was lauded by journalists as a more refined product even as there is still no release date on the handset. Huawei’s Mate X is even more pricey than Samsung with Huawei asking a sky-high €2,299 of your cash. The Galaxy Fold is also expected to come to India.from 91mobiles.com http://bit.ly/2SuQLXN
