  • Redmi Y3 teaser confirms 4,000mAh battery ahead of April 24th launch
  • “The upcoming Redmi Y3 selfie-centric phone comes with 4,000mAh battery, gradient back, and runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie”

Xiaomi is scheduled to launch the Redmi Y3 selfie-centric smartphone on April 24th. As we inch closer to the launch, the brand has been aggressively promoting the phone with a series of promotional teasers. The latest in the series highlights the 4,000mAh battery, which has been a standard for most Redmi phones. In comparison, the Redmi Y2 had a much smaller 3,000mAh battery. However, it remains to be seen whether the Redmi Y3 supports fast charging tech.

The brand has also teased the gradient back, which is a refreshing upgrade. The Redmi Y3 has already been confirmed to feature a 32-megapixel SuperSelfie camera with AI enhanced beauty mode. Rumours suggest the phone might come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC and will be offered in more than one variant, including a 4GB RAM + 64GB onboard storage model. It is expected to run on MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Redmi India has also announced that it has sold over 7 million units of the Y series since its launch two years ago, citing IDC data. Nothing else is known about the handset at the moment, so we will have to wait for few more days.

Separately, Xiaomi, in a tweet has also hinted the Redmi 7 launch alongside the Redmi Y3 at the event on April 24th. While the Redmi Y3 is a selfie-centric smartphone, the Redmi 7 is a budget offering that should be priced under Rs 10,000. Redmi 7 has a 6.26-inch HD+ (720 x 1,520 pixels) display with a waterdrop-style notch. The handset powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 632 SoC and runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 9 custom software. The Redmi 7 has a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor on the back. On the front is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with HDR support.
