  • Redmi Snapdragon 855 flagship reportedly called K20 Pro; variants and colour options tipped
  • “The Redmi K20 Pro flagship smartphone is expected to come with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display, Snapdragon 855, and triple rear camera setup”

Xiaomi’s spin-off brand Redmi is confirmed to be working on a Snapdragon 855 powered flagship. While there have been numerous leaks and reports about the handset, including key specifications, its name has been kept under the wraps. However, Redmi head Lu Weibing in a recent Weibo post hinted the flagship could be called P20 Pro, X20 Pro, T20 Pro, or K20 Pro. Now, ahead of the official confirmation, noted tipster Ishan Agarwal claims one model would be called K20, while the other variant will be named K20 Pro.

Furthermore, the standard Redmi K20 has been tipped to come in three variants — 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB, while the Redmi K20 Pro will have an additional 8GB + 128GB option as well. It is said to come in Red, Blue, and Carbon Fibre colour options. However, it remains to be seen how Redmi would differentiate both the variants at the moment. It is also speculated that Xiaomi might market one of the variants as Poco F2 in India.

The Redmi K20 Pro could be powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC, while the standard version might get the latest Snapdragon 730 chipset. Both the models are expected to sport 6.39-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with notch-less design, thanks to a pop-up slider. The phone is also reported to come with wireless charging support, meaning it could rock a glass back panel. It is said to run on Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 skin on top, reports also suggest the phone could come with Android Q beta support.

As for the optics, the Pro is touted to come with a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 48-megapixel primary Sony IMX586 sensor, an 8-megapixel secondary depth sensor, and a third 13-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens. Though not confirmed, the regular Redmi K20 might have a dual rear camera setup. The cameras could be backed by a dedicated night mode and AI enhancements. On the front, rumours hint at a 32MP elevating camera for selfies and video chats. Both the variants are rumoured to pack 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support.
