“The company says that ending the MIUI beta program will help it meet the demands of the users and release stable version updates more frequently”
There is an update to Xiaomi’s MIUI beta version policy. The brand will be ending the support for all devices — not just the entry-level or older smartphones, as reported previously. In a post on its forum, Xiaomi stated: “In order to meet the demands of most of our users and release stable version updates more frequently, our team of engineers has decided to stop releasing the global version of MIUI Beta for all devices starting July 1st, 2019.”
A company usually releases a beta update of its upcoming software, which lacks stability and several exploratory features, to a handful of the audience in order to catch bugs before the launch of a stable release. Xiaomi used to do the same. Its MIUI Beta was made available for a smaller number of hardcore fans who want to be the first to experience new features of the operating system and give feedback before it makes the wider roll-out of the stable version. However, next month onwards that won’t be the case.
There will be no pre-testing of the software. It’ll be directly rolled out to the consumers, which will most likely be faster. Xiaomi says the move will provide more “stability” to developers and ensure a great experience for all. The required security updates will also be delivered to every user in a timely manner, and the company will continue to interact with them on various platforms and concentrate on improving the stable version of MIUI.
A lot of users, meanwhile, has opposed the move. There are several comments on the post that shows disappointment and multiple users believe (MIUI) beta versions are more “stable” than the so-called stable versions. What do you think about this decision? Share with us your comments below.
