  • Here’s how Vivo V17 Pro’s six cameras work
  • “Vivo V17 Pro is one of the very few phones to come with a total of six cameras, including dual selfie snappers in the pop-up module”

Vivo V17 Pro was officially launched in India as the first smartphone in the country to rock pop-up dual selfie cameras, consisting of a standard 32MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP secondary unit. The handset ships with Snapdragon 675 SoC coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. But the main takeaway from the Vivo V17 Pro are those six cameras, which we will be taking a closer look at. Let’s take a deep dive into the camera setup the Vivo V17 Pro offers to buyers.

Vivo V17 Pro dual selfie pop-up cameras

Starting off with those dual selfie snapper, given the sudden demand for wide-angle sensors, Vivo has paired a dedicated 8MP wide-angle lens with 105-degree field of view to the 32MP primary sensor. This should come in handy when clicking group selfies as well as taking landscape shots and it also brings a new perspective to the photos. As for the standard 32MP Samsung sensor, it has support for portrait mode with portrait lighting that adds lighting effects to the pictures, similar to Apple’s Portrait lighting.

The Vivo V17 Pro’s dual selfie cameras also feature a dedicated ‘Super Night Selfie’ mode and as the name suggests it brightens the selfies clicked, thereby making details and colours more apparent. It is one of the very few phones to include a dedicated night mode for selfie cameras. There’s a new AI Make-up feature that automatically adjusts the face skin tone. Additionally, it comes with an LED flash, HDR mode, and selfie-filters.

Vivo V17 Pro quad rear cameras

Moving to the rear cameras, the Vivo V17 Pro features a quad camera setup consisting of a 48MP primary Sony IMX582 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 13MP telephoto lens and a 2MP for depth sensor. Though it doesn’t have the latest Sony IMX586 48MP sensor, it still captures images with impressive clarity. Even when zoomed-in, the details should be clearly visible. It also has the portrait mode that neatly focuses on the subjects and blurs the background.

Moving onto the 8MP secondary ultra-wide-angle sensor, it offers a 120-degree field of view that can fit so much in one single frame. This is especially useful when clicking images in landscape orientation. The Vivo V17 Pro can also record videos with the wide-angle lens, which is the icing on the cake. The 13MP telephoto lens has support for 2x optical zoom and 10X digital zoom. Since it is optical zoom, the images should be sharp and preserve a lot of details. While the 10X isn’t all the useful considering it brings in more noise.

Lastly, the 2MP macro sensor captures images that are very close to the subject, and the f/2.4 aperture makes them really sharp. The quad-camera setup is backed by night mode that captures more light to brighten the resulting image in low-light conditions, HDR mode, portrait lighting, and a plethora of other such features. With a dedicated sensor to click pictures in different scenarios, the Vivo V17 Pro cameras do look promising.
