Qualcomm has scheduled its annual Snapdragon event between December 1st and 2nd. The chipset maker typically unveils its flagship Snapdragon 8xx-series processor at the conference and we can expect the same this year as well. The San-Diego based company is expected to introduce the Snapdragon 875 SoC on December 1st, which will likely be the company’s first chipset based on a 5nm architecture. Qualcomm has revealed the event date on Weibo, following which Xiaomi‘s China president has said, “looking forward,” which probably suggests the company will announce its first smartphone to be powered by the Snapdragon 875 SoC.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 SoC had reportedly entered mass production sometime in July/August. It is said to use the ARM Cortex-X1 core — aligned in the 1+3+4 CPU arrangement. The chipset is expected to be priced higher than the predecessor, which might increase the cost of phones powering it as well. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the mighty Snapdragon 875 SoC at the moment.
Apart from the Snapdragon 8xx series flagship, Qualcomm may also introduce the Snapdragon 775G, which is a successor to the Snapdragon 765G SoC that was launched in 2019. The chipset should power premium mid-range phones and offer 5G connectivity. This is also expected to be a 5nm chipset. Realme had also teased it would launch a flagship with a 5nm SoC, probably in the first half of 2021.
