Motorola led the oncoming of the current era of affordable but powerful smartphones with the original Moto G that launched in 2013. The Moto E followed next year with the object of catering to new smartphone users. Over the years, the two series have come to make up a major part of Motorola's portfolio and have evidently seen more interest from consumers compared to the Moto Z and the X series. Motorola launched the seventh-gen G series devices earlier this year, the Moto e6 in July 2019, and showcased the Moto e6 Plus in Berlin at IFA 2019 earlier this month. Today, the 4GB/64GB variant of the Moto e6 Plus is coming to India, rebadged as the Moto e6s.
While the objective with the Moto e5 Plus was to provide a big screen at an affordable price tag, Motorola aims to offer an overall upgrade in terms of aesthetics as well as the performance of the smartphone. First off, the Moto e6s comes with a larger 6.1-inch display with a U-shaped notch. The resolution of the panel is 720 x 1560. On the back, the Moto e6s features a flexible plastic cover with a reflective surface. The back cover will be replaceable and users should be able to buy covers with finishes other than those being launched today.

In terms of performance, Motorola is using the MediaTek Helio P22 SoC on the Moto e6s. As per the company, the chipset allows running games like PUBG Mobile on medium graphics without any lag. In India, they are only launching one variant of the smartphone and it comes with a 4GB RAM. There's 64GB storage on board with a dedicated microSD slot which supports cards up to 512GB so that running out of space is not something users have to deal with.
In terms of photography, the Moto e6s gets an upgrade over the Moto e5. Now, there are two cameras on the back and the setup includes a 13MP primary camera along with a 2MP depth sensor. An 8MP camera is nestled in the U-shaped notch on the top of the display. Despite its affordability, the smartphone supports various camera features like live filters and selective filters. Motorola says that these algorithms have been picked from their smartphones with higher prices.
The Moto e6s comes with a 3000mAh battery and Motorola is bundling a 10W charger along with the device. In terms of software, you get stock Android 9 Pie but besides the Moto camera, there is no other software addition to the device. The device lacks support for Moto actions, which is something typical Motorola users will miss.
