“There is no information yet around the second-generation 108MP camera sensor that is tipped to be used on Samsung Galaxy S11”
Samsung Galaxy S11 series launch is still months away, but that isn’t stopping the rumour mill from revealing new details about the flagship every other week. It was initially expected the Galaxy S11 would feature the 108MP sensor, that currently seems to be a favourite among premium flagships (Mi MIX Alpha, Mi Note 10, have already adopted it). However, noted tipster Ice Universe claims that there’s a high possibility that Samsung will be introducing a new 108MP sensor, which will be used on the Galaxy S11. While the exact details about the sensor aren’t available, it’s likely to be a successor of the existing sensor with improved low-light image quality, video recording capabilities, and more.
The Galaxy S11 has a high probability of using a new 108MP sensor.

While Samsung using its 108MP sensor on all its Galaxy S11 units itself is a rumour, for now, the company using a newer product makes much more sense since the existing 108MP sensor is already being used on the Xiaomi phones and won’t be as exciting when the Galaxy flagships launch. While Ice Universe’s claim might be tall on paper, it sure seems plausible. Unfortunately, we know nothing about the camera sensor at this point, but we might learn more information in the days to come.
Samsung Galaxy S11 specifications
As for the specifications, Samsung Galaxy S11 series is expected to ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC and have support for 5G. The models in the series are likely to boot Android 10 with One UI 2.1 custom skin. The Samsung Galaxy S11 is expected to come with 5x zoom, Deep Fusion-like technology (similar to iPhone 11 series), and a larger in-display fingerprint sensor area. A recent HTML5 Browser test reveals the flagship would come with 20:9 aspect ratio.
