Elon Musk has made a strange new claim about the growing list of features on Tesla electric cars.

The billionaire shared a video to Twitter showing a Tesla Model 3 calling out to pedestrians on the street as they filmed it pass.

'Teslas will soon talk to people if you want. This is real,' Musk captioned the tweet.

In the video, the car can be heard saying 'Well, don't just stand there staring, hop in,' in a plummy English accent. The Model 3 has a speaker built into the grille which is most likely where the voice is projected from.

Moreover, Musk followed that tweet up with another suggesting the cars would also be able to fart in someone's 'general direction', a nod to Monty Python.

One of the so-called Easter Eggs in Tesla cars is the option to add fart noises to individual seats in the car.

As ever, it's not clear when or if this feature will somehow get added to Tesla cars in the future. But we can't imagine your average pedestrian will enjoy having a £42,000 sports car roll up and either shout something or fart at them from the side of the road.

The only benefit we can see is that it might make a better way of alerting someone than just blasting the horn at them.
