Huawei is seemingly set to launch its flagship smartphones for 2020, the P40 and P40 Pro. While a launch event was already confirmed for March 26th, a new teaser poster has now surfaced on the web, giving us an apparent confirmation of the device’s launch date, as well as a silhouette of its fascia. According to the teaser, while the super minimal bezels were pretty much expected, what stands out are three dots placed at the top left of the display, showing what likely is a triple camera setup on the front, placed in an elongated punch-hole design. The teaser also shows the front panel may come with a dual-curved screen design.
The Huawei P40 Pro, according to a report by GizChina, may have a high-resolution primary sensor on the front, paired with a secondary ultra-wide sensor for group selfies and video calls, and a third 3D Time of Flight sensor to gauge depth and create portrait shots. The report further claims the Huawei P40 Pro will come with a five-camera rear imaging setup, and this would feature a 52-megapixel Sony IMX700 primary unit, a 40-megapixel Sony IMX650 unit with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a standard telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom range, a longer periscope telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom range, and a ToF sensor in the fifth module.
As for other specifications, Huawei P40 Pro series is expected to feature Kirin 990 5G SoC, with at least 8GB or 12GB of RAM in tow. It is also expected to feature an AMOLED display panel with a high refresh rate and touch response. While all components are slated to be of flagship-class, the P40 Pro series is still slated to miss out on the Google Play Store.
Ever since being banned due to the US trade restrictions, Huawei lost access to Google’s services. The company has attempted to convince users to use its own services on its devices, but the effect has not had much success in markets outside of China. Huawei has reportedly held talks with Indian company IndusOS to work as a replacement app store on Huawei phones, and Google itself has filed with the US government a request for an exemption and work with Huawei again.
