  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 receives NFC certification ahead of launch
  • Highlights
    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 has received the NFC certification
    • The foldable smartphone will succeed the Galaxy Fold
    • The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is said to come with a punch-hole display

The Samsung Galaxy Fold successor is reportedly going to be called the Galaxy Z Fold 2, as per a recent SamMobile report, and the foldable smartphone is widely expected to launch in August alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series. A Samsung phone with model number SM-F916U has been certified by the NFC Forum. This model is believed to be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 as the original Galaxy Fold had the model number SM-F900F. The NFC certification doesn’t reveal much about the smartphone, but mainly confirms that it will come with NFC support.

Last month, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with model numbers SM-981U and SM-986U also received the NFC certification. All three Samsung phones are expected to bag more certifications as we approach their launch. As per tipster Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series and Galaxy Z Fold 2 launch event will be on August 5th.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, for what we know so far, will look similar to its predecessor in terms of design. The phone will open and close like a book like before. However, the main flexible display is said to come with a punch-hole cutout instead of the notch, and the cover display will be taller than before with smaller bezels around. We also expect to see high-end hardware powering the device.
