“The wireless charging accessories will be unveiled later today, when Samsung launches the Galaxy S10 lineup at its Unpacked event.”
Samsung is all set to take to its Unpacked event later today with the Galaxy S10 lineup. While all the focus will be on the flagship smartphones, one particular aspect about these devices is expected to play a more important role — wireless charging. Alongside being intrinsic to the phones, the Korean electronics giant has also been touted to launch a wireless charging pad and a wireless charging power bank alongside the phones. Now, the two purported devices have been revealed and displayed from all possible angles ahead of launch.
According to a report by WinFuture, the upcoming Samsung wireless charging power bank offers 5W wireless charging via the established Qi standard, which means that pretty much any compatible device will be able to receive induction charging from the power bank. That said, the charging standard is said to be restricted to 5W, meaning that there will be no fast charging as an option for devices. The report further claims that the power bank will be capable of 15W charging via its USB-C cable interface. The leak reveals that the power bank bears nomenclature EB-U1200, and will be priced at €39.99 (approx. Rs 3,200).
As for the wireless charging dock, Samsung will reportedly dub it Samsung Wireless Charger Pad Duo EP-P5200. The dock has two wireless charging hubs, and is not a uniform wireless charging platform like Apple’s supposed AirPower wireless charging solution. The design of the charging pad includes a larger point that offers 10W wireless fast charging for the Galaxy S10 (or any Qi-certified, compatible smartphone), and a smaller point that offers 5W wireless charging and can be used for smaller devices such as smartwatches. The pad itself can reportedly be recharged using its USB-C port, and the leak shows it in black and white colour variants, with pricing said to be €99 (approx. Rs 8,000).
Wireless charging is finally being adopted as a more common standard of charging devices, after having been around for a while. The likes of Xiaomi, Apple, and Samsung are all vying to roll out charging stations that offer wireless charging for multiple devices at the same time. In fact, the Mi 9 launch event today saw Xiaomi launch a wireless charging pad that delivers output as high as 20W. The leak detailing the two wireless charging accessories from Samsung appear to be pretty credible, and we will be surprised to not see any or either of them at the Galaxy Unpacked event later today.
