MIUI 11 was announced at an event in China alongside Mi 9 Pro 5G and Mi MIX Alpha smartphones. Now, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi K20 are getting the MIUI 11 firmware update in China. The Redmi K20 MIUI 11.0.3 update is 700MB in size, while the MIUI 11.0.1.0 build for Redmi 7, Redmi Note 7, and Redmi Note 7 Pro also brings the September 2018 security patch. Since it is a Chinese build, it doesn’t come with Google Play services. Other Xiaomi phones should also get the MIUI 11 update in the coming weeks, though a specific timeline isn’t mentioned.
MIUI 11 custom OS brings new visuals, including a system-wide dark mode, new ambient always-on display animations and effects, and more. It adds new sounds like the chirping of birds, the sound of insects, and natural world sounds for alarms and notifications and brings new themes to the ‘Theme Store’.
MIUI 11 also comes with Mi Work suite that features options like file sharing, sharing of large documents between smartphones as well as between smartphone to PCs, screencasting for presentations, videos, and gaming sessions, and wireless printing. Mi Go is another accessibility feature that offers power-saving mode, which the company claims helps phones last up to 24 hours with just 5 percent battery. It also has tools like currency exchange rates, one-tap purchases, and more.
Xiaomi said that the stable MIUI 11 would start rolling out in its home soil from mid-October but no specific date mentioned yet. As for the India launch, Xiaomi should make an announcement before the end of this year and start the rollout in batches early next year.
