Following the recent launch of the Realme XT and Realme X2 last month, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is gearing up for the launch of its first true flagship – the Realme X2 Pro. In a string of tweets from Realme Europe's official account, the company has revealed a few key specifications of the upcoming device.
To move the quickest smartphone, you need the quickest processor.

Realme has now confirmed that the Realme X2 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855+ chip and will feature a 90Hz Fluid AMOLED display. The device will also include support for 50W VOOC fast charging. However, it's not clear whether it will include a compatible charger in the box.

While the tweets don't reveal any further information, the company's Europe website sheds light on the Realme X2 Pro's camera setup. The device will feature a quad-camera module, including a 64MP primary sensor, a 115-degree ultra-wide angle lens, a telephoto lens, and a dedicated portrait lens. It will also include support for 20x hybrid zoom, which we have previously seen in phones like the Oppo Reno 2.
The company also boasts of the phone's improved low-light capabilities, thanks to a wider aperture and larger pixel size. Additionally, the Realme X2 Pro will also be able to take crisp macro shots, allowing users to get as close as 2.5cm to the subject, something that we recently saw on the OnePlus 7T.
As of now, the company hasn't revealed other essential specifications, including the display size and RAM. However, the website promises to reveal more about the upcoming device in the coming days. There's also no word on the release date so far, but a recent Weibo post from the company's CMO Xu Qi Chase suggests an imminent launch.
Taking into account the available specifications, the Realme X2 Pro seems like a compelling smartphone that will go against the Redmi K20 Pro and the OnePlus 7T. While there are no details on the pricing either, the company is expected to set a competitive price tag in accordance with other budget flagships in the market as well as its own pricing history.
Note: Realme initially claimed that the phone will come with 65W SuperVOOC charging, but the tweet has now been deleted. The company now reveals that the phone will come with 50W SuperVOOC charging. The article has been amended accordingly.
Update: Realme X2 Pro design and launch date revealed
Thanks to Realme's CMO Xu Qi Chase, we've finally got our first look at the upcoming Realme X2 Pro. In a recent post on Weibo, Chase shared an image of the device in a new blue finish that the company is calling Poseidon. The image also gives us a clear look at the quad-camera setup on the back of the device with the weirdly off-center Realme branding underneath. The same image was also shared on Twitter by Francis Wong, the company's CMO for the Indian region.
Thankfully, the TENAA listing for the X2 Pro shows the Realme branding in the correct place. This could potentially mean that the previous image shared by the company is of a special limited edition.
In a separate post on Weibo, Realme also revealed that the device will be launched in China on October 15 at an event in Beijing. However, a tweet from Realme Europe states that the device will be launched in Madrid on the same day.

This leads us to believe that the Realme X2 Pro will be launched in all markets simultaneously, however, the company is yet to confirm details for the India launch. On top of that, the tweet also affirms that the company will be bringing the popular Realme X2 and the Realme 5 Pro to the European market alongside its new flagship.
Update 2: Launching in India in December 2019
Realme CEO Mr. Madhav Sheth has revealed that the Realme X2 Pro will be launching in India in December 2019.
It's official now! We are bringing #realmeX2Pro to India in Dec. Time to rethink flagships. Get ready for #FasterSharperBolder.

The time lag between a European and Chinese release to the Indian launch is very wide. But on the other hand, the company had been launching smartphone after smartphone in the country, so a small pause in the release schedule gives breathing room for their existing products to perform in the market. The company does miss out on the Diwali festival and the sales accompanying it, but a December release will allow it to capitalize on the Christmas and New Year festive season. We hope to get an exact date soon.
Update 3: Launching in India on November 20th
Following yesterday's launch event in China, Realme has now started sending out media invites for the Realme X2 Pro launch event in India. As per the invite, the device is scheduled to be released at an event in New Delhi on November 20th.
