The “Android Messaging” application that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store prepares to receive the “ sender verification ” feature. This new feature promises to keep you safe from phishing messages and scams that may happen.
A few days ago we talked about message scams sent to thousands of Portuguese on behalf of Worten and Montepio. These scammers wanted people to join their services in order to achieve something in return for the user. In Montepio’s case they wanted the bank’s login details online, already at Worten signing up for a monthly service that would take money away from users.
Android messages will reduce these scams
The goal is to identify the sender of the message. To do this, businesses need to register their phone number with Google and when they receive a message from Google, it will be confirmed by Google that it is actually the entity in question.
This service is Now available on the new version of Android Messaging APK, however, there are still few businesses that already have their phone number verified.
The same is true for Portugal. The service will first be available to US businesses and only later to our country. Still, you can download the new APK and as soon as it is available for Portuguese business you don’t need to do anything else.
How to Install APK from Messaging Android

- Gives Drive permission to install APKs on your smartphone

- You may need to close the application to see the changes
In short, this is the measure against spam and scams that Google found for your app. Not perfect, because you will continue to receive messages from scammers, but it already gives you a more definite light on whether or not the company is sending you the message
