Samsung India has announced a partnership with Facebook to train offline retailers to go digital in the country. This will enable thousands of the company’s offline partners to become a part of the online ecosystem and touch a larger base of consumers across the country. For consumers, this will allow them to access complete product information and purchase the Galaxy smartphones at the comfort of their home. Samsung says that it has already trained more than 800 offline retailers in the first phase in association with Facebook and more sessions scheduled in the coming weeks.
The major focus of the training sessions is to enable offline stores to build a digital presence by setting up business pages and accounts on Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp. This will eliminate the need for a user to visit a store and Samsung is hoping offline retailers are likely to witness a growth in their business. Retailers can engage with potential consumers to share required information such as e-detailers and e-catalogues on the available Samsung phones. Consumers can then purchase a Galaxy phone via WhatsApp by contacting the local retailer’s Business account and get it home delivered, thereby maintaining social distance.
Mohandeep Singh, Senior Vice President, Mobile Business, Samsung India, said, “Consumers are at the heart of everything we do at Samsung. Over the last two months, our focus has been to adapt our business model to suit the changing needs of our consumers. We have taken a number of steps to enable the doorstep delivery of both our products and services to ensure social distancing. Our partnership with Facebook is helping a large number of our retail partners go digital in a big way. By leveraging Facebook training, our retail partners will be able to discover and target local consumers digitally. Consumer too will benefit as they can now access product information and shop for Galaxy smartphones through Social Media pages of their local retailers.“
