  • Next affordable OnePlus Nord may not come with 30W fast charging
  • Highlights
    • TUV Rheinland certification shows the OnePlus phone will have 18W fast-charging (9VDC, 2A)
    • The listing doesn’t reveal much about the handset
    • OnePlus is reportedly working on two affordable phones

OnePlus is reportedly working on a couple of mid-range phones that may launch as part of the OnePlus Nord series. We already know that the upcoming mid-range phones come with the code-name ‘Clover’ and ‘Billie’. A OnePlus device has received the TUV Rheinland certification, which shows that it will surprisingly support 18W fast-charging (9VDC, 2A). This surely comes as a surprise as recent OnePlus phones, including the OnePlus Nord, support 30W fast charging. Unfortunately, the listing doesn’t reveal much about the handset nor its model number.

The mention of 18W fast charging support suggests we’re possibly looking at the launch of a phone that is more affordable than the OnePlus Nord. As for the OnePlus ‘Clover’, it recently appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. The listing suggests that it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 4GB RAM. The phone managed to score 336 points in single-core and 1495 points in the multi-core test. Considering that OnePlus has picked a three-year-old processor, we may be looking at an entry-level offering with a punch-hole cutout and dual-rear cameras. OnePlus ‘Clover’ will not have 5G connectivity and will stick to the standard 60Hz refresh rate.

As for the OnePlus ‘Billie’ phone, it is said to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 690 SoC with 5G connectivity. It could be a slightly toned-down version of the OnePlus Nord. The handset was spotted in OxygenOS skin and will also have another model – ‘Billie2’. The Geekbench listing showed that it could have 6GB RAM and boot Android 10 OS. It managed to score 609 points in the single-core test and 1,728 points in the multi-core test. We should learn more details about the OnePlus mid-range phones soon.
